If your camera roll fills up faster in autumn, you’re not alone. According to a new study by Deluxe Holiday Homes, Berlin ranks as the world’s most Instagrammable fall destination, with each tourist sharing an average of six hashtagged posts during their visit.

The research analyzed millions of Instagram hashtags — from #ParisAutumn to #FallInBerlin — and compared them with annual visitor numbers to determine which cities inspire travelers to post the most.

Europe dominates the list: six of the top ten most photogenic fall destinations are on the continent. The top three cities are Berlin, Dublin, and Paris — each balancing cozy weather, walkable neighborhoods, and a steady stream of festivals and markets that make for endlessly shareable backdrops.

Berlin’s appeal comes down to balance: crisp 11°C weather, tree-lined boulevards awash in color, and a visual culture that makes the city’s murals, museums, and markets irresistible on camera.

For travelers heading east, Seoul leads the way in Asia. The South Korean capital sees around 35 million visitors a year and offers mild 13°C temperatures — perfect for exploring palaces, mountain trails, and coffee-lined streets during peak foliage.

Why It Matters

Social media continues to shape how travelers choose where to go. In the Deluxe Holiday Homes study, more than 60% of respondents said they consider how photogenic a destination will look on their feeds before booking a trip. Autumn, with its shifting light and saturated colors, stands out as one of the most visually distinct times of year — turning even everyday cityscapes into something worth capturing.

A spokesperson for the company explained it this way:

“Autumn brings together everything that makes a destination appealing — the visual change in nature, comfortable weather for walking, and a calendar full of cultural events. Visitors see ordinary streets and parks in a new way, and that difference is what makes them want to take out their phones and capture it.”

The findings hint at how travel and social media continue to evolve together, where visual storytelling now defines how — and why — we explore the world.
